April 05, 2016 Sunrise Drive

James Hendry presenting with Bryan Joubert on camera

Jamie Paterson presenting with  Jeandré Gerding on camera.

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
We start drive today with James and Bryan right next to some alarming impala who are looking right at the Nkuhuma pride of linos who are mostly sleeping, two have their heads up.

Jamie,                               ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Says good morning with the herd of wildebeests playing and grazing on Quarantine clearing.
Impala bachelor herd.

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Back to James with the lionesses

Jamie,                              ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
With the wildebeests in a beautiful golden light as the sun rises.
Oh someone found a leopard please let it be Karula with her cubs!! Probably not but finger crossed or as they say holding thumbs

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Back to James for awhile with the lioness who is grooming each other (allogrooming) so most of them are awake but not signs of moving at the moment. One of them has large swollen nipples so that most likely means she is pregnant Woo-Hoo! more cubs.

Jamie,                              ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Jamie was helping to locate Karula who they saw but she went into a drainage line near twin dams and the area is too thick to follow so she is waiting.
Then she notices a blue waxbill bird with a piece of grass in its beak and is bobbing almost jumping up and down not exactly sure why but it's neat to see.
She drives on slowly hoping to see Karula coming out of the thick bush or hear some alarm calls but none so far, so she parks and turns off the engine so we can hear alarm calls if they see Karula and we look at birds and her book.
Red backed shriek

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Four of the lioness have their heads up one is still flat asleep.

Jamie,                              ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Jamie still no sounds or sight of Karula yet.
African hoopoe
We see James' vehicle with Sam and Bryan on it but no James so we go to them.

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
He is out of the vehicle at a termite tree in a sense. They have put soil all over the tree trunk it seems they may be eating the bark.
Apple leaf trees and silver cluster leaf tree
Blue pansy butterfly

Jamie,                              ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
A buffalo with a fresh wound on his lower shoulder

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
The lioness are up they had a failed lazy hunt while we were away they were spotted so we didn’t miss much.
They are on a stalk now two or three of them, one is lying down the other is sitting up paying close attention

Jamie,                              ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Baboons we actually only see one and he is running off but it was still cool to see. While she tries to find the rest of the troop for us we go over to James.

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
The lionesses are  all lying down again in a pile.

Jamie,                              ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
A warthog male youngish though his tusks are tiny so Jamie thinks maybe seven months old
Buffalo with the white right eye
Elephant who is in a thick area so we can hardly see it. Seems to be the short trunk elephant herd

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
With a different herd of elephants. His are in better view at least for awhile then they get into a thicker area.

Jamie,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Now to a closer view of Jamie's elephants

Jamie says her thank you and have a good afternoon to all.

James,                             ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
He wanted to say good bye with the lions in sight but now he can't find them.
Buffalo bulls

James says his goodbyes for the afternoon.

Sam Chevallier, the new safari guide presenter, starts this afternoon on sunset drive.  http://blog.wildearth.tv/2016/04/we-welcome-sam.html
