March 17, 2016 Sunset Drive

     Jamie Paterson is our presenter to start our afternoon drive with Wium Dornbrack on camera. In honor of Saint Patrick's Day, she decorates the vehicle and herself in green leaves, gwarri bush and potato bush we also see a green starling. She tells us we will only have her as out only presenter for the entire drive. She will be looking for the Nkuhuma pride.

• (2016/03/17 16:17) We lose signal as she crosses the drainage line. -Tech Loop -

• (2016/03/17 16:18) We are back and Wium spots the lions.

 








 

• (2016/03/17 16:24) The lions are sleeping and we have found a nice viewing spot to chat about them.

• (2016/03/17 16:29) Viewers send in limericks.

  

• (2016/03/17 16:41) The lionesses are mostly just sleeping although sometimes one rolls over another stands up and finds a new spot to sleep.

• (2016/03/17 17:02) The lionesses are mobile and go down into the drainage line. They are headed into a thick block towards elephant plains 

 

 

• (2016/03/17 17:26) Driving in the thick bush is too loud for us to be following the lions, we could have an effect on their hunt so Jamie decides to go out and around by road.

• (2016/03/17 17:32) After a radio talk with Brent, Jamie tells us they plan on doing a presenter swap so we have a different face for the rest of the drive.

• (2016/03/17 17:36) she shows us on her cell phone a picture of a pseudoscorpion she saw earlier.

(2016/03/17 17:39) Brent shows up to do the presenters swap.

 

 

 

 (2016/03/17 17:42) Brent introduces himself.

 

     Once done with the swap Brent went one way on the road, Jamie went the other. Brent doesn’t get far before Jamie calls him on the radio to tell him she found the lioness in the road resting, so he turns around and goes back to them. (2016/03/17 17:45)

• (2016/03/17 18:18) The lionesses are headed into the bush and Brent thinks they might pop out on Arathusa so he is going around to the other road. 

 

(2016/03/17 18:20) We meet up with them on the next road over. 

 

 

• (2016/03/17 18:31) While in a thick bush area, the lionesses just ahead of the vehicle, one of them changes her body language as if she has seen or heard something. So Brent turn off all lights and the screen goes dark but we still hear him and see a little.  
  

• (2016/03/17 18:34) After awhile Brent moves the vehicle to the road to wait and listen.

• (2016/03/17 18:38) The moon. Brent is listening for sounds of the hunt or prey animals, or even the lions calling.

 

• (2016/03/17 18:44) Brent finds one of them and follows her with the vehicle and spotlight as she tries to find the rest of her pride.

We see them off and on, thru the thick bush until just before end of drive.
