Good morning from Jamie Paterson who is talking directly to, two science classes from three oaks elementary school. She is looking for frogs and terrapin in a natural water pan. Dave Eastaugh is on camera.

  • She explains safari live to the children a bit.
  • A foam nest frog nest.
  • (2016/03/18 16:04) She shows the kids a terrapin in her book, and explains turtle vs terrapin vs tortoise.
  • She moves on.
  • Surprise for the kids tries to get them to guess

Brent says hello to the children of three oaks elementary school. Wium Dornbrack is on camera.

(2016/03/18 16:13) Brent finds a ground hornbill

Jamie,
(2016/03/18 16:14) Jamie with lions a male and female. Male is asleep females head is up they are very close together. As she gets closer the male picks up his head then lies back down and rolls over back to sleep.  Then the female lays her head down and goes to sleep as well.

Brent,
(2016/03/18 16:23) Brent with elephants. A youngish female cow is being cheeky and keeps trying to steal the show even though Brent is trying to get the calm mother and calf in view. The cheeky female mock charges shakes her head and even trumpets a couple times. She is young enough that he just ignores her bad behavior she is not threat and maybe just playing, although I agree she is not threat I think he was saying she is playing to the children from the school.

 Jamie,

(2016/03/18 16:33)  Jamie is with the lions and is moving the vehicle to try to get a front view of the male.

(2016/03/18 16:35) in mid-sentence with Jamie talking about the male lion's size he opens his eyes but doesn't move and the signal goes out.

(2016/03/18 17:47) Brent on top of the hyena den off Aubrey's road. There are no hyenas or hyena tracks, but there are fresh warthog tracks he looks carefully in I took lots of shot of this because well just in case something came out?

(2016/03/18 17:49) Brent is not headed to see if he can find the other mound where James had found the hyenas last. It's just a drive thru some thick bush area.
Brent answers a question for Gracie I tried to grab a shot of his "Gracie" smile.

Jamie,
(2016/03/18 17:52) Buffelshoek dam

Red billed buffalo weaver nest.

Brent,
(2016/03/18 17:57) Hyena den with Brent
  • First we see madam feeding the J-twins with D2 roaming behind and Pretty feeding November next to her.
  • Dec1 is chewing on a stick and Dec2 is just about everywhere while we are there.
  • Brent counts the hyenas. I count 10.
  • D2 causing trouble tackles June.

Jamie,
(2016/03/18 18:05) Amazing sunset

Brent,
(2016/03/18 18:07) Mean while back at the den… June vomited and the Dec twins are have fun rolling in it while she tries to eat it again, one of the J-twins joins in the gross fun, but soon decides running around is more fun.

Scarback comes in to join the clan. There is the usual greeting party, during which you can see Scarback's scar very well several times.
(2016/03/18 18:11) Impala alarm call snort just behind the den which startles the cubs who all run to the den entrance for great screenshots of all 5 cubs and June who I guess is still a cub too. The impala snorts get all the hyenas attention but not for long however Brent still wants to go see what is causing it, so we go to Jamie.

 (2016/03/18 18:14) to Jamie

 Brent,
(2016/03/18 18:21) back to the den
This time at the den we see Scarback and her pink chewed and tattered ears one of her unmistakable characteristics. She is lying with pretty who rolls over scratching her back. It's nice to see Scarback with the main adult females again other then when she was asleep near the den a week or so ago it has been since January that she was with the main females. I think I saw a scab or maybe mud on her rear but, other then that her wounds from the wild dogs seem gone. Dec comes and lies by her and tries to inspect her teeth for cavities. June comes up and tries to suckle but Scarback nips her leg to say no. Sorry Brent it was Scarback for sure. It was getting dark and we have better views then him.

(2016/03/18 18:27) Brent leaves the den, and we go to Jamie.

Jamie,
(2016/03/18 18:29) Is using her spot light to try to find the lions who are mobile.

Brent,
(2016/03/18 18:39) Shining with Spotlight
(2016/03/18 18:43) African scops owl

(2016/03/18 18:48) Back to Jamie who has found the lions. The female is out of view but for a minute we see the male lion walking.

Jamie's good bye for the night and Safari Live and WildEarth crew's Earth hour message.
PLEASE WATCH.

End of Drive.
